Early Detection to Protect Your Vision

Glaucoma is often called the “silent thief of sight” because it can progress unnoticed until significant vision is lost. Early detection through regular glaucoma screening is critical to preventing irreversible damage to the optic nerve and maintaining long-term eye health. At Dr. Zaid Chaudhry and Associates, we are committed to providing comprehensive glaucoma screening services using the latest diagnostic technology.
Why Glaucoma Screening is Important
Glaucoma affects millions of people worldwide and is a leading cause of irreversible blindness. However, with early detection and proper management, the effects of glaucoma can be significantly mitigated. Regular screenings are essential, especially if you are at higher risk due to factors such as age, family history, race, and medical history.

Our Glaucoma Screening Process

Our glaucoma screening process includes several key evaluations:
Tonometry
We measure the internal pressure of your eye using tonometry, which is critical for assessing the risk of glaucoma.
Ophthalmoscopy
This examination allows us to look at the shape and color of the optic nerve. If the optic nerve appears abnormal, it could be an indicator of glaucoma.
Perimetry (Visual Field Test)
This test helps us determine if there is loss of peripheral vision, often a sign of glaucoma.
Gonioscopy
We assess the angle in the eye where the iris meets the cornea to determine whether it is open or narrow, which can affect how fluid drains from your eye.
Pachymetry
By measuring the thickness of your cornea, we can better understand your intraocular pressure readings.

Types Of Glaucoma Treatments

At Dr. Zaid Chaudhry and Associates, we offer a range of treatments tailored to the specific type of glaucoma and the needs of the individual patient:
Medication
Typically, the first approach in glaucoma treatment involves prescription eye drops and, in some cases, oral medications to reduce eye pressure.
Laser Therapy
Laser trabeculoplasty helps open clogged drainage angles of the eye, increasing fluid outflow and reducing pressure.
Surgical Procedures
For more advanced cases or when other treatments are ineffective, surgical options such as trabeculectomy or minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) may be necessary to lower eye pressure.
Ongoing Care
Regular check-ups are crucial to manage this chronic condition effectively. Our team ensures personalized monitoring and adjustments to treatment as needed.
