Nurturing Young Vision with Comprehensive Pediatric Eye Care

At Dr. Zaid Chaudhry and Associates, we believe that early eye care is essential for lifelong vision health. Our pediatric eye care services are designed to monitor and support the visual development of children from infancy through adolescence. We understand the unique eye care needs of children and provide a friendly, comforting environment where they can feel safe and secure.

What to Expect in Pediatric Eye Care

Children’s eyes are continually developing, and regular eye exams are crucial to ensure they are on the right track. Here’s what our pediatric eye care includes:
Early Assessments
We recommend initial eye exams for infants by six months of age to ensure their eyes are developing normally.
Pre-School Exams
Before entering school, children should have their vision checked to identify any issues that may affect learning, such as poor visual acuity or eye teaming problems.
School-Age Vision Checks
As children grow, regular eye exams are important to catch any developing issues quickly, ensuring that their vision does not hinder their academic or social activities.

Pediatric Eye Conditions We Treat

Our team specializes in diagnosing and treating a range of common and uncommon pediatric eye conditions, including:
Strabismus (Crossed Eyes)
Strabismus involves a misalignment of the eyes, where one or both eyes may turn inward, outward, upward, or downward. This condition can lead to double vision and may affect depth perception.
Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)
Amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye, occurs when one eye fails to achieve normal visual acuity, despite the use of prescription glasses or contact lenses. It typically develops from a lack of use during early childhood.
Myopia (Nearsightedness)
Myopia is characterized by clear vision close up but blurry at a distance. This condition results from the eye being too long relative to the focusing power of the cornea and lens, causing light rays to focus in front of the retina.
Hyperopia (Farsightedness)
Hyperopia, or farsightedness, is a common vision condition where distant objects may be seen more clearly than objects that are near. It occurs when the eye is too short relative to the focusing power, making near objects appear blurry.
